Steward's Comments: Rider explained that it was not his intention to race prominently, however his mount began well and to avoid racing wide he allowed it to improve without being unduly pressured. However attributed the gelding weakening over the concluding to the circumstances of the race, namely that it is better suited when able to be ridden conservatively in the early stages.
